Doubling Up
This past weekend I completed 2 century rides, one on Friday alone and one on Sunday with another cyclist and the wind turned on us on the way back, which was frustrating because we thought we would have a tailwind on the way back in. No soreness at all either, maybe because I didn't push much power.

What to ride? What to race? Guru is our team's bike sponsor. Geneo is the most aero...Carbonio is the lightest
If Geneo...I will not go with the yellow wheels, yellow fork, and yellow bar tape. But I will use some of the team bike color.

Or Carbonio.........

Vote for you favorite

Should you ride, should you walk, or should you drive?
It takes less energy to bicycle one mile than it takes to walk a mile. In fact, a bicycle can be up to 5 times more efficient than walking. If we compare the amount of calories burned in bicycling to the number of calories an automobile burns, the difference is astounding. One hundred calories can power a cyclist for three miles, but it would only power a car 280 feet.
Also a cyclist's energy comes from renewable sources. Petroleum is not renewable.

Find a Ride in a city.
One thing I think that is great about cycling is that you can discover alot about a city on a bike that you won't normally see. Take your bike with you and stop being ordinary. Here's a link to find or add a ride in cities you live or travel to.

I am in in the money!
I am sitting here looking at my check made out for $30 for 3rd place in the Baptist TT series beginner..lol and I am going to be the soon recipient of another check from ProBike and I'm thinking, "This cycling thing is starting to payoff! Maybe I should go for the big money now!" Then I thought, "Nahhh.....I am paid well enough by the great rides, health, and relationships that I have built with cycling.

Nice Video...Nice Tune...Yes that's New York. I guess, you have to have really narrow handlebars to ride like this guy.
Do you really want to win?

What a great ride.
Sunday, I wanted a relaxing ride and since I had gotten "Flat Chance" my 1978 Peugeot single speed back in running order, decided to take the road less travelled. It was on rough roads, dirt roads, and nice black topped roads. At one point on a stretch of flat farm land I got buzzed by an old WW2 trainer and I stopped and waved and the guy gave me a 15 minute private airshow. He did loops, stall climbs, spins, smoke...amazing.
I also got some great strength training on some hills as I had to do some serious pedal mashing with the biggish gear choice.
This weekend will be the peak of great foliage so I can't wait till then.

Tired of being unlucky?
It seems that luck is a based on behavior.
I have been curious about why some things have been happening to me lately and this seems to explain it.
USE YOUR INTUITION! Unlucky people often fail to follow their intuition when making a choice, whereas lucky people tend to respect hunches. Lucky people are interested in how they both think and feel about the various options, rather than simply looking at the rational side of the situation. Gut feelings act as an alarm bell - to consider a decision carefully.
VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE! Unlucky people tend to be creatures of routine. By contrast, lucky people try to introduce variety into their lives. Doing the same thing every day, or thinking about the same thing every day creates a rut that prevents you from encountering opportunity.
ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE! Lucky people tend to see the positive side of ill fortune. If they get a bad break, they cheer themselves up by saying "it could have been worse." When one of Wiseman's extremely lucky subjects broke his leg, he cheerfully explained that it could have been worse - he could have broken his neck. So, in a nutshell, how do you change your luck? Think outside the box, think positive, don't dwell on the past and if you fall off your horse, get right back on it. According to Wiseman, good or ill fortune is not karma, its not a curse and its definitely not magic. It is self-created.

Sore legs on Monday.
It's funny how satisfying sore legs are on a Monday morning. It means you rode hard and you should be satisfied by the hard work. My weekend mileage was a little over 100miles. But they were hard miles.
New recipe that I am gonna try because I have had good success with lentils in the diet. It's from Trainright.com . The picture even looks good.

I am back and will get things rolling again this weekend. I have been having problems with wheelsets. If I could only find a good deal on a strong carbon boron wheelset.

Progress!
I don't know how because yesterday at work my legs hurt going up the stairs and in the first 30minutes of my ride to "the hill" they hurt also but my hill repeats felt great with no granny gear compared to last weeks dismal performance. Maybe it was the tail wind going up the hill. I actually felt stronger on the way home after the workout than before the workout started. Big ride tomorrow. I may actually do an easy century, if you can call a century easy. If we can just get better discounts on cycling.

My Legs Hurt!
Now I see why I need a coach. I am on a mixed up training program. I am trying to train for time trials in Feb and a 100 mile road race March 3. My performance this week is going down because of my legs not recovering. Should I nix the time trials or do it for the experience? But from what I have read that is ok while I am in this 3 week cycle. I have been getting some motivation from watch cycling.tv . I also have some newfound motivation to lose some weight as I should gain a 1.25% increase in climbing performace for every 2.2lbs lost. 20 lbs would give me a 10% increase PLUS my strength and efficiency gains. I should be able to kick LA's butt by year end...lol. Well...it would seem so anyway.
